John Christian's notes state:
"Lady Waterford, copy after Veronese. Inscribed in a modern hand on the backboard: 'Lady Waterford. Collection of James Clarke Hook. By descent from ... (two words) Hook..' Written in red biro on a rought surface, the inscription is almost illegible."
