Christie's AIL Valuation of the Christian collection gives the provenance for this drawing as Joseph Wilton, Sir Bruce Ingram 1961, Sabin Galleries with Henry Moore-Gwyn, 2004. However, the paire of drawings acquired from Harry Moore-Gwyn are recorded as two drapery studies in pencil. This is more likely to be the study of 'A Draped Female Nude.' purchased from Christopher Powney, 28th March 2003.
This item has an uncertain or incomplete provenance for the years 1933-45. The British Museum welcomes information and assistance in the investigation and clarification of the provenance of all works during that era.
