- John Christian purchased this print from Emanuel von Baeyer, mounted alongside another impression in black ink (2019.7015.496). He retained a label which provides the following information:
"Domenico Peruzzini 1602 Urbania-1673 Ascona
Madonna and Child with St Joseph 1661
Etching. Size of sheet 8.7 x 6.3 cm
Literature: The Illustrated Bartsch. vol 21, 142.1.S2
A very fine impression of the final state, with platedirt and fine plate tone in the areas of the background. With small margins around the plate mark.
Accompanied by a good impression in red.
It is rare to find these impressions in this form and as a pair.
'A list of Perruzini's etchings is somewhat more difficult to complete, not only because of the rarity of some of these prints, but also because of a confusion over monograms since both Domenico Piola and Domenico Peruzzini had the initials D.P. There are some etchings with the monogram which are impossible to attribute to either Peruzzini or Piola with absolute certainty (1).

Christian also retained Emanuel von Bayer's invoice No 13/ 3-2, dated 05.07.2013.
