- John Christian purchased the print from Abbott & Holder along with four other prints by Edwards. (See 2019.7015.122- 2019.7015.126).
He retained the invoice, no: 025458, dated 06.05.2011.
The print was acquired by The British Museum in a dealer's mount annotated with the following information: Edwin Edwards 1823-1879, The Thames Near Sunbury-on-Thames, 1862.
A photograph of the annotations on the mount has been retained with the invoice for this print.
Annotated inside the mount: "List No: 13."
The stock number 86986/7 is written in pencil on the sheet and corresponds with the number on the invoice.
Abbott and Holder's List 408, May 2011 includes a large group of works by Edwin Edwards. John Christian retained the list and marked the prints that he purchased (see 179).
