- Curator's comments
- This print is from Stella's 'Purple Series' (2015,7101.1-9), a suite of nine hard-edged geometric abstract lithographs printed in metallic purple ink at Gemini GEL in Los Angeles. Gemini also published the series in an edition of 100. The BM set is number 87/100. Stella named each print after a friend of his from the New York art world. This print is named after Ileana Sonnabend, a prominent art dealer and the former wife of Leo Castelli (owner of the Leo Castelli Gallery and Stella's first dealer whom the ninth print in the series is named after).
