- Curator's comments
- Johann Heinrich Meyer is best known for his topographical views of the Swiss Alps, both in pure watercolour and series of elaborately hand-coloured etchings. This impressive sheet is one of a pair made in the earlier pastoral tradition of Salomon Gessner, but on a much grander scale.
