- This is from a bound album of eighty-five vignettes (2011,7013.1.1 to 85), all of them proofs and many states before letters, most dating from the early 1820s; they were engraved, for the most part, after designs by Achille Deveria, with other plates executed after Horace Vernet, Eugène Lami, Alexandre Descamps, Tony Johannot among others.
The album was assembled by G. Martinet in the second half of the 19th century; it is bound in red leather and coloured paper, with the title' Vignettes de Deveria' gilt-embossed on the spine, and marble endpages; it bears Martinet's exlibris on the inside front cover, and features Stephen Bann's bookplate as well. Stephen Bann acquired the album from an antiquarian bookshop in Aix-en-Provence.
