Rustic interior, where a man wearing a dark suit and top hat is sitting on the left, gesturing with one hand as he tells a ghost story to a young man in a smock who sits opposite, leaning forward with his elbows on the table, with an expression of fascinated terror; an elderly couple grouped between them listen with incredulity and amusement, and a little girl sitting at the foot of the stairs behind to right pauses in the middle of lifting a spoon to her mouth; after Liverseege; with open letters. 1835
