- Chaloner Smith describes also 'Noon', and a pencil annotation to the departmental copy records impressions of unfinished states of Morning and Evening. All these other three are after Boucher. For an earlier print by Petit after the same portrait which is the likely source for this mezzotint see 1873,0712.274
Neil Jeffares (email oct 2021): The sitter is indeed the dancer Marie Salle, and the face is derived from La Tour's portrait of her, J.46.2842 in my La Tour catalogue.
