- Printed in seven colours by Bill Goldston, Lorena Salcedo-Watson, Bruce Wankel and Douglas Volle at ULAE, Long Island, New York. Eight printings were made from eight plates on an offset lithographic press. The starting point of this lithograph was a postcard of a Hans Holbein drawing which Johns received in the early 1990s from Christian Geelhaar, Director of the Kunstmuseum, Basel, who organized a Johns print exhibition, 'Jasper Johns: Working Proofs', at Basel in 1980. The Holbein drawing is 'Portrait of a Young Noble Boy with a Ring-tailed Lemur', c1532-43, chalk, pen and ink, watercolour, Kunstmuseum Basel, depicting Edward, Prince of Wales, son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour (reproduced in Kunstmuseum Basel's, Katalog der Zeichnungen des 15 und 16 Jahrhunderts, Teil 2A, edited by Christian Müller, Basel, 1996, no.182, col. plate 22).
