- The preface is written by Henry Cole, in which he describes the process of making metal casts, or stereotypes from the original blocks, thirty-five of which had been in the British Museum since 1839 (see 1839,0608.3.17 through 52). There are two copies of the book in the British Library: 786.e.58 and 7854.dd.10.
