Curator's comments
This is an unusual impression in being coloured. On the analogy of other prints in the same collection, it is assumed that the colouring was added in Vienna. The collection also had monochrome impressions of the print in the same state.

This came from a lot of clerical portraits that was unsold at the Sotheby's sale, and was afterwards acquired by Richard Godfrey, who gave many items to his close friends. David Bindman gave an address at the funeral.
