- William Gear lived in Paris from 1947 to 1950 and became identified with the Cobra group, exhibiting with them in Copenhagen and Amsterdam in 1949. He also shared an exhibition with Jackson Pollock at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York that year. It included this work which David Brown acquired around 1974-5.
