- According to an anonymous pupil of Roger Hilton's at Byam Shaw School of Art, Hilton was a pioneer of the method of drawing the nude whereby the figure was continually moving, and this figure was probably drawn in that manner.
David Brown bought this work from Hilton's first exhibition solely of works on paper, at the Waddington Galleries in 1963. The original frame bore labels for Waddingtons and the Scottish Arts Council
