- Curator's comments
- Despite the gravity of his illness from 1972 until his death in 1975, in August 1974 Roger Hilton made one last journey abroad to Antibes in the south of France. He painted and drew from his bed in the mornings, spending the afternoons by the sea and the evenings at a local café. The circus in Antibes inspired this gouache.
