- This is the second last gouache that Hilton made before his death on 23 February 1975. His family, reduced to abstract shapes, is gathered at his bedside. David Brown was present when he died. See 'Boom Boom Cluster: The David Brown Bequest', Southampton City Art Gallery, 2004 p.107-8.
David Brown selected the works and wrote the gallery text for the Graves Art Gallery exhibition of Hilton's last works.
