- Lit.: R. Schilling (ed.), 'Die von Edmund Schilling gesammelten Zeichnungen', published privately, Edgware, 1982, p. 221, 'Das kleine Album', no.59; J. Rowlands 'German Drawings from a private collection', exh.cat London and Nuremberg, 1984, p.33, no.29;
This and 1997,0712.24 belong to a group of small roundel drawings in different collections, all of which are drawn in the same, unidentified hand, and one of which is dated 1515. The technique and close attention to detail indicate that the draughtsman may have worked as a goldsmith in Augsburg.
Check whether L.385 is on the verso or not (on old backing).
