- According to the Christie's sale catalogue of 1987, the attribution was first made by Werner Sumowski. A version of the composition was in the Emile E. Wolf collection, exhibited Sacramento, E.B. Crocker Art Gallery, "The Pre-Remnbrandtists",1974, no.29.
