- Paul Saint-Olive was born and died in Lyon, where he worked as a designer for a silk factory there. He made several etchings and wrote numerous articles and works, including the local history of Lyon and literary subjects. In 1847, he travelled to Italy, where he sojourned in Rome (Audin & Vial, p.193).
