- Jean Baptiste Hugon - etcher, draughtsman, literary hack and collector - belonged to the circle of etchers in Lyon, where he lived all his life and died.
(Audin & Vial, p.433). For Hugon's use of canary yellow paper, see 1993-7-25-17. This plate is probably from a series, each of which was numbered in Roman numerals.
