- Curator's comments
- The strongly marked features of the landlord, the eager dog and the face of the younger of the two men entering the room bear strong resemblances to the work of Jefferyes Hamett O'Neale as a satirical print designer in the early 1760s; he produced designs for magazine illustrations from the early 1760s to the 80s, and possibly 90s.
