Editorial note in this volume, Number 1 of the New Series, discusses wartime suspension of activities: "The publication of Signature was suspended in December 1940. The last number was only issued, indeed, in the face of unusual difficulties as the Curwen Press received a direct hit from a high-explosive bomb whilst Number 15 wsa in process of being printed."
