- This drawing is a study for 'Cain and Abel', which McWilliam submitted to the 'Unknown Political Prisoner' international competition in 1953, where it won an Arts Council National prize. The maquette is now in the Tate Gallery (Tate N06164). Other drawings related to the competition are in the BM by Reg Butler and Geoffrey Clarke.
McWilliam exhibited five sculptures and a number of drawings under the title 'Cain and Abel' at the Hanover Gallery in late 1952.
