Political satire: Hercules with his club, inscribed "Popular Opinion", a head slung in his lion's skin, reflects on his labours: having killed the lion and cleansed the Augean stable, he now has worse: the "Corsican Hydra", the Golden Fleece, which he'll take good care of, the "Caledonian Boar", "Indian Harpies", Emancipation" "Reform" etc.; on a building in the background is written "St Stephens". April 1806

- The Hercules is probably Fox, carrying the head of Mr. Trotter, and "St. Stephens" may refer to the Abbot of St Stephens, the Speaker when Whitbread's proposals were put to the vote, who had the casting vote, but this took place on the 8 April 1805, cf: BMSat 10391
