- The note on the mount indicates that this design was intended for use on silk. A very similar design is held at the Hunterian, Glasgow.
Three labels were removed form the original frame, one for the Scottish Arts Council's centenary Mackintosh exhibition of 1968, titling the work "Fabric Design: Tulip Pattern", catalogue number 315, and giving James Meldrum as the lender. The second is handwritten in pencil for the same exhibition, giving the lender, catalogue and case number (36). The third is for Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum's Mackintosh exhibition in 1983, lent by Mr and Mrs Meldrum and titled "Fabric Design". The labels are held in the artist's file in Prints and Drawings.
