92 engraved illustrations by Charles Grignion after paintings by Italian, French, Dutch, and British baroque artists, from W. Rider's 'Christian's Family Bible', each plate set in ornamental frame and lettered with comments and annotations (originally published in three volumes for the author in London) 1763-1767; depicting scenes from the Old Testament, illustrating the books of Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Judges, Samuel, Kings, Esther, Daniel, Judith; and from the New Testament, the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the Acts of Apostles, and Hebrews; many plates lettered with dedications to bishops and lords; bound together without titlepage in hardcover. 1763-67
