Description
'[Vitae XII Caesarum] Ex Recognitione Des. Erasmi...'; book by Suetonius Tranquillus (Caius) printed in Cologne in 1527, with a woodcut bookplate attributed to Sebald Beham, depicting the coat of arms of Hector Pömer, underneath an arch of tree branches, a shield surmounted by a helmet and a bust of a man, in the top left corner a shield of the Pömer family, on the top right that of the Rummel family, bottom left the Schmidmayer family, and bottom right the Bergmeister family; on the left side of the central shield a full-size figure of St Laurence holding an grid-iron, at the bottom four lines inscription in Hebrew, Greek and Latin. 1525 Woodcut
