The pose is reminiscent of Titian's rendering of this subject on the ceiling of the sacristy of S.Maria della Salute, Venice, and also close to Giovanni Battista Franco's engraving (Bartsch, 1803-21, xvi, p. 118, no. 1; 'TIB', 32, p. 156, no. I-L).
