- Curator's comments
- Morgner was a visionary artist, deeply influenced by Van Gogh's reed pen drawings. He exhibited with the Sturm Gallery in Berlin and after working as a grave-digger in Macedonia in 1916, vanished without trace on the Western Front in 1917.
'The red number 560 was written on the back of the drawing by Georg Tappert in 1920 when cataloging the paintings of Wilhelm Morgner. According to this, Tappert gave the title „Landschaft II" for this drawing.' This information comes from Thomas Drebusch, via email 7 April 2021.
