- Curator's comments
- After a painting of 1852, engraved in 1885 and reproduced in Caw 'Scott Gallery' in 1903, according to R B Stocks's catalogue.
The format suggests that this is an illustration to a book, perhaps a frontispiece to an edition of Wilson's work.
An impression in the collection of Adrian Stocks was annotated "Professor Wilson/Christopher North", in a hand which was evidently the artist's.
