Plate 2: a man and a woman in carnival costume as dockers, are questioned by a police chief seated a a desk in his office, the woman in a defiant pose, leaning her arm on the shoulder of her companion, who appears taciturn, his arms crossed, leaning against a wall inscribed "Cabinet de Mr. le Commissaire"; two policemen visible in a doorway to left; originally published in 'Le Charivari' on 28 November 1838
