'Fables by the late Mr Gay. In two volumes', volumes I and II (London: C. Hitch and others) 1757; containing etchings by G. Vandergucht, most after W. Kent, Wooton and Gravelot, each image serving as headpiece for each of the fables in the books; 1 plate for the introduction, 50 plates for the first volume and 16 plates for the second volume, with wood-engraved tailpieces. Together with frontispiece showing the funerary monument of John Gay, John Gay's portrait in an oval at the title-page, both by G. Scotin after Gravelot; dedication to William Duke of Cumberland, table of contents, and title-page for the second volume. Bound in tan leather, with raised bands, gold-tooled design at the spine, and coloured edges.
