Seventeen images from "The Table Book"; the first, the Black Knight, in full armour, rudely addressing the royal box, the court looking on with horror, the princess fainting in shock, another knight reacting with shock at his tournament opponent's rudeness, other spectators before pavilions beyond; the second, the wizard, Albumazar, taking Almanzor by the scruff of his neck and putting him into an enormous alembic, other giant alchemical instruments and vessels surrounding the two small figures; the third, a rakish gentleman smoking a cigar, with a lady on each arm, smoke billowing behind him; the fourth, Singleton reclining on a divan, his head propped on his arm, a pageboy bringing him a letter on a tray; the fifth, two ladies dressed in warm but fashionable clothes with large bonnets and shawls; the sixth, a dandy tying his enormous neckcloth in front of the mirror; the seventh, a laughing gentleman tweeking the nose of another to bring him out of a trance, both finely dressed in dark coats, bust length; the eighth, hypnotised coastguards seated in their chairs on the cliffs of Dover, their telescopes pointing out to sea, a young boy mesmerising one of them; the ninth, a large family strolling on a walk, all finely dressed; the tenth, rows of boots and shoes of different styles and fashions; the eleventh, a band formed of ragged musicians on the street, palying on their instruments; the twelth, a man playing on a trombone and knocking over a gentleman with one end; the thirteenth, a letter T encircled by a striped snake with small arms; the fourteenth, a class of students, all hypnotised by their teacher who is seated on a dais, a dancing master with a fiddle observing; the fifteenth, a sleeping gentleman, a handkerchief draped over his forehead, five pins stuck into his prominent nose; the sixteenth, a group of actors on stage, dressed as robbers, in cloaks, moustaches and feathered hats, all carrying swords, one of their number pointing towards a house painted on the scenery beyond; the seventeenth, actors dressed as seamen and naval officers waiting in the wings of the stage, one seated on a barrel; illustration to "The Table Book" (1845)
