Two scenes; the first; Freddy Coleman, an expression of shock on his face, pointing at an imaginary fire through the window of the belfry, the beadle reacting with confusion, other bell-ringers engaged in their work and looking towards the beadle; the second; Lawless comandeering a fire engine, standing on the box and waving his hat in the air, firemen seated on the waggon, the horses galloping and ridden by postillions, crowds cheering to the foreground and in the windows of the houses beyond; illustration to Smedley's "Frank Fairlegh" (1850)
