- The composition in 9r may be related to the painting 'Boys in a boat drifting out to sea' discussed in Romney exh. (2002), no. 114.
9v appears to be a first study for the portrait of 'Emma Hart in a straw hat' now in the Huntington (Romney exh 2002, no. 109).
Each leaf is stamped with the De Pass collection inventory no.308/1923.
