- The precise technique is difficult to determine. The silver is very thin, and the surface much discoloured with remains of varnish and wax.

- Hind notes at the top of a sheet that the plate was 'submitted by Mrs L.E.Weaver, Jan. 1933'. The sheet has details written by Henry T.Burgess:
"This Picture was left me by my Father who told me it was very valuable. It has been much admired by the following gentlemen The Right Ho.Robert Lowe.Mr Schafe of the National Portrait Gallery who wanted it also by Mr Panizzie of the British Museum who said I ought to give it to them. Sit James Emerson Tennent. Mr Graves Senior Mr Hall. Dominic Colnagie James Booth and many others who tood the greatest interest."
