A rough tracing/ sketch for Reid 2792 entitled 'Come out in the road or Charley's challenge to the double-dealing, double-faced, double-eagle Emperor.' The Emperor Nicholas looking through an embrasure at Cronstadt, addressing Sir Charles Napier who is standing on the deck of the Wellington on foot on the masthead which is in the form of Wellington.The sea, the outlines of ships and naval combat are loosely sketched in the background. 1854

- Description and date based on GW Reid, 'A descriptive catalogue of the works of George Cruikshank.' The print related to this tracing was published by W. Tweedie, 331 Strand, May 25th, 1854. The Emperor is given the line: "Go away you naughty man, I am at prayers." Dialogue has not been added to this drawing.
