- Description
-
A tracing/study of a young woman addressed by a small, supernatural figure situated in a rural landscape. The branch of a tree curves above the figure group with further trees and hills suggested in the background. The vague outline of a cross or spire is suggested at the very centre of the composition. A flock of sheep proceed from the centre of the composition with those in the foreground depicted in greater detail than those sketched in the background.

Lettering which reads "The worship of Bacchus" has been removed from each side of this version. The position of the young woman's hands is revised in each study. Meanwhile, varying degrees of precision are given to the flock of sheep, supernatural figure and trunk of the tree.
