A drawing related to Reid 2560, the final version of which was published as an etched illustration to 'The Comic Almanack 1853. 'Scarcity of domestic servants or every family their own cook; being verifications of our prognostications in 1851, upon the subject of open female emigration!' A family beginning the culinary art; paterfamilias scalding his children in an attempt to empty a saucepan of vegetables; his wife has set fire to the chimney while she endeavours to broil a chop.'
