A drawing/ tracing study related to Reid 4949, the wrapper for Charles Dickens's 'Oliver Twist.'
Eleven vignettes illustrative of various scenes in Oliver Twist, including Bill Sykes ordering Oliver Twist to rob a house, Oliver meeting Fagin, Oliver meeting the Artful Dodger, Oliver sitting and watching his employers at their meal, Oliver escorted by the beadle, Fagin in the condemned hold, Bill Sykes falling from the roof, Oliver fighting with Noah Claypole, Bill Sykes and his bulldog, the thieves falling down stairs and Oliver embraced by Rose Maylie, frontispiece to Dicken's "Oliver Twist". Lettered in the centre: "The adventures of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, Illustrated by George Cruikshank. A new edition revised and corrected."
