Dutch broadside commemorating William III and the victories of 1702; with an etching by Huyberts showing in the centre an oval portrait of William III framed with a laurel wreath and partly covered by a draped curtain, resting on an altar with the inscription, "Facit Coniunctio Tutos" surmounted by an eagle (the Empire) with sword and sceptre and supported by a unicorn (Britain) and lion (Netherlands); on the front of the altar is the monogram "WR/III" encircled by the snake of eternity and a laurel wreath, below which an allegorical figure of a warrior representing Valour inscribes William's deeds. On the left Hercules, representing Honour, strikes with his club to overcome figures of Envy, holding a flaming torch (ignus fatuus, or will-o'-the wisp), and Deceit whose lies beneath Hercules' feet, his mask fallen from his face. Queen Anne is seated to the left of the altar wearing a crown and holding a sceptre, and to the right is a female figure of Liberty, standing for the Netherlands, holding a staff on which is a shield with the seven arrows of the United Provinces and the hat of Liberty. Her hand extends towards a large banner displaying the allied victories of 1702: in the centre a view of the battle of Vigo Bay; above and below, plans of fortified towns, Keiserswerth, Landau, Venlo, Roermund, Stevensweert and Luijk (Liège). Above the banner, a child representing Fame holds a scythe (Time) and blows a trumpet; below, a lion (the Netherlands) grasping a sword hold a tablet inscribed, "Vigilanter Deo Confidentes" surrounded by a wreath. Engraved inscriptions, and with letterpress title and text in three columns, including listing of biographical dates of William III, listing of Dutch millitary achievements in 1702, and verses by W vande Hoeven.
