- These drawings were made by John B. Trinick and Wilfrid Pippet as designs for a set of tarot images. They were commissioned by A.E. Waite, a poet and writer on the occult, who bequeathed them to the BM. For more information see Tali Goodwin and Marcus Katz, 'Abiding in the Sanctuary: The Waite-Trinick Tarot: A Christian Mystical Tarot (1917-1923)' (Keswick:Forge Press/blurb.com, 2011).
All of the drawings bear the monogram of John B. Trinick (JBT) in the bottom right corner, along with the date they were made, except for 1973.0616.21.1, which is signed by Wilfrid Pippet and 1973.0616.21.13 on which no signature or monogram is visible.
