- One of four drawings on the Château d'Amboise drawn by Du Cerceau for this album; see 1972,U.793 for comment on whole series.
Two of Du Cerceau's four drawings (1972,U.855 & 857) show the plan and the elevation of the château as it was in the years 1560-70, while the other two (1972,U.854 & 856) reflects new developments and modifications that were planned at the time; as they were not ultimately executed, they do not feature in the 'Excellents Bastiments de France' (1576).
