- One of seven drawings (on six sheets) on the Château de Montargis drawn by Du Cerceau for this album; see 1972,U.793 for comment on whole series.
Montargis is strongly represented in the series: the Huguenot Du Cerceau moved in this Protestant stronghold following the start of the wars of religion, and he was in charge of the maintenance of the buildings. Montargis was also the estate of his patroness Renée of France, to whom the album was most likely dedicated. The castle was completely demolished in 1824.
