'Illustrated Songs & Hymns for the little ones compiled by Uncle John' (London, Partridge & Co) n.d. [1859]; containing 1 whole-page colour wood-engraving with two children offering a bowl to an old man encouraged by their mother, and 16 other small wood-engravings within the text, showing images of animals, figures and landscapes, illustrating the songs: 'How pleasant it is', 'The windmill', 'The town pump', 'Be kind to the poor', 'The fall', 'Be dove-like', 'Contentment', 'Water, bright water!', 'The tablet on the wall', and 'The cobweb'.
Bound in original boards with title-page printed on front cover showing the image of a woman reading a book to her son; publisher's advertisement on back cover.
