'The Piccadilly Annual of entertaining literature retrospective and contemporary' (London, John Camden Hotten) 1870; containing texts by various authors including Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Thomas Wright, and a text after Edgar Allan Poe, with many wood-engravings: 'Christmas Eve in Norawy', an illustration to 'The Ghost of Pit Pond', 'An event in the life of Charles II', 'illustration to 'A pastoral of the period', 'illustration of Albert Smith pointing at a board with illustrations to 'Little Kasper', and 6 illustrations imitating shadow puppets for 'Little Kasper', Jungeez Khan and his desert bride', 'Little Lena', 'Dean Swift and the Mohawks', 19 humurous illustrations to 'Caricatures of the invasion of England by Napoleon I', 'The charitable husband', 'Dr Johnson's Penace', 'The Brown imp', 'A workhouse treat', various sketches after William Thackeray, 7 vignettes for 'The vulture, an ornithological study', 4 illustrations to 'A lay of exposition', 'A new Robinson Crusoe', 'The frog's bride', and 3 illustrations of Piccadilly. Together with premilinary introducing the annual, advertisement of 'J & J Hopkins' for pianoforte, diapason harmonics and other products, and Asser & Sherwin's games. Frontispiece showing the 'Birth of the Rose', and vignette on title-page shwoing 'St James's Palace in the last century', with chromolithographed title-page showing a cottage with mountains in the background, advertisement of Christmas presents by Joseph Gillott on the verso. Bound in brown leather with gold lettering on spine.
