- Curator's comments
- From a series of 13 plates, composed of a dedication page followeed by eleven plates (three of which represent two distinct scenes) reproducing the monochrome frescoes executed by Giulio Romano in the Sala di Costantino, Vatican Palace..
The set is presented in a bound album and is followed by eight plates engraved after Polidoro da Caravaggio's frescoes for the façade of Palazzo Gaddi, Rome.
Both sets they were engraved Pietro Santi Bartoli, and were published by Giovanni Giacomo de Rossi.
The album belonged to Clayton Mordaunt Cracherode (the first page of the album carries Cracherode's monogram and the year 1760). The pages present some foxing.
