'Les Français peints par eux-mêmes' (Paris, L. Curmer) 1842, tome V of V; containing 18 tipped-in hand-coloured wood-engravings/lithographs showing different people of France, this first one being an uncoloured etching showing an equestrian portrait of Napoleon, and another 102 vignettes within the text including headpieces and decorative initial letters. Together with tipped-in frontispiece after Pauquet showing a Turkish man talking to a soldier while a young woman reaches into her basket, with soldiers in formation in the back, publisher's device on title-page, dedication, introduction, and illustration list at the end. Bound in green boards, deckled edges.
