'Les Français peints par eux-mêmes' (Paris, L. Curmer) 1840, tome I of V; containing 34 tipped-in hand-coloured wood-engravings/lithographs showing different occupations, and another 145 vignettes within the text including headpieces and decorative initial letters, mostly after Gavarni, Gagniet and Monnier. Together with tipped-in frontispiece after Gavarni showing a man fixing a sign inscribed 'Les français peints par eux-mêmes' with various figures looking, publisher's device on title-page, dedication, introduction, and illustration list at the end. Bound in green boards, deckled edges.
