- The date is provided by Anton Gattlen, L'estampe topographique du Valais, 2 vols, Brigue, 1987-1992, vol. I, p. 17. R.W. Lloyd owned two examples of this remarkable panorama, which is made up of four conjoined sheets. The figures are shown in traditional costume, set against notable landmark features of the various cantons. The inscriptions above describe the views, and those below give details of the occupations of the figures. All the famous sites that were visited by tourists in the first half of the nineteenth century are represented here, including Mont Blanc, the glaciers at Grindelwald, the Pissevache and Staubbach waterfalls, the castle at Chillon and the chapel of William Tell on the shores of Lake Lucerne.
